The Exquisite Beast – A Collaboration Project

Every other year, the studio members of New Grounds Print Workshop work on a collaboration project. For 2009, they created this three-section book based on the “Exquisite Corpse” game which was created by the Surrealists in 1925. Each New Grounds artist printed a figurative image based loosely on the proportions of Da Vinci’s Vertuvian Man. The cut pages of these eighteen etchings, gravure and relief prints can be assembled to an almost infinite number of new creatures, or Exquisite Beasts. Enjoy!
